A beautiful Greek Orthodox icon of Saint Birinus of Dorchester, handmade & hand painted by an expert Greek hagiographer.
Birinus (c. 600 – 649) was the first Bishop of Dorchester and was known as the “Apostle to the West Saxons” for his conversion of the Kingdom of Wessex to Christianity.
Made using traditional materials (selected aged timber frames, egg tempera, 24K gold leaf, natural powder paint and varnishes) and old techniques. It is an exact reproduction of an antique Byzantine masterpiece.
